In honor of the 40th anniversary of San Diego State University's Love Library, we held a contest for the best true story under 500 words about finding love in Love Library.  Read selected excerpts of submissions.  If you'd still like to share your story with us, you can submit one.

Here are the winners!

Sue Atkinson Reilly for her story about the young man who stole her library books and then her heart.  Sue and her husband Scott are in Roseville, CA.  The Sunflower Guy from Encinitas will be sending a bouquet for her.

Melanie May Thompson, a former library student assistant, for her story about falling in love with words and the library.  Melanie and her husband are in Grand Junction, CO.  The Sunflower Guy from Encinitas will be sending a bouquet for her.

John Weil for his story about meeting his wife in Love Library.  Valentine’s Day is his and his wife’s wedding anniversary.  They will receive dinner for two at 1500 Ocean, at the Hotel Del Coronado

Peggy White-Ramsey for “Notes on the Bulletin Board of Life!”  She will receive dinner for two at The Lodge at Torrey Pine’s award winning restaurant, A.R. Valentien.

And finally, Hilary Andrews for her outstanding contribution both in word and film: The Linguist.

Hilary and her team have created an award winning short film.  Love Library was the location of their filming.  Hilary wrote about the enduring friendships that were created during this process.

In addition to Hilary, the team includes:

Kevan Barsky

Eduardo Castro Fonseca

Guilain Bwinika

Nuala Phillips Portasany

Each will receive dinner and a drink from the Trails Eatery.
